What to look for when getting a Rental Truck
- Look around your house or apartment and figure out how much stuff you need to move. Having all of these details will help you and the rental companies choose the size of truck you need to rent.
- Call multiple companies to get price quotes, and find out what services are included in those prices.
- Figure out how long you are going to need the truck and make rental plans in advance. You can then setup a pickup date to get the truck.
- Work out the distances of your trip. Are you moving to a nearby city or to a different state?
- Have all of your documents ready when dealing with the rental company. When you pick up the truck, you will need your driver license and a credit card.
- Check to see if your current insurance covers rental trucks, if not you may need to purchase some rental truck insurance when you get the truck.
- Checkout what moving tools the company has for rent. Dollies, hand trucks, and other such items can be useful while you load the truck.
- Be ready to make a deposit on the truck when you pick it up. You want to avoid the additional fees if you can. So be mindful of the mileage limits and gas fees. To avoid the gas fee make sure you fill up the tank when you return the truck.
- Before you sign out the truck, give it an inspection with one of the rental company employees.. Check for any exterior and interior damage. Look at the mileage on the odometer and the fuel level of the gas tank. You don’t want to get blamed for any pre-existing conditions on the truck. If you and the rental company employee agree on the conditions of the truck, you are ready to take it home and load it up.
