Some Tips on Moving Furniture

Posted by Air1Moving

The biggest items you will have to move is your furniture. After you’ve decide which furniture is moving with you, the packing process can begin.

  1. If your furniture can be disassembled, take it apart and pack it securely. Keep all of the nuts, bolts, and other hardware together in a clearly marked bag or small box. If the pieces of the furniture are small enough pack them in boxes, otherwise just wrap it all up bubble wrap.
  2. If it doesn’t fully come apart, take it apart as far as you can. It will make storage easier and give you more packing space.
  3. If you don’t have instructions on how something was put together, make yourself some while taking it apart. Just in case you forget how something goes back together. Moving can be a high stress situation, so it would be understandable that you forget things you did during the process. This is why making yourself checklists are also an ideal practice.
  4. For your couches, take all of the cushions and package them in bags for protection.
  5. With dressers and cabinets, be sure and empty all of the content inside them.
  6. When loading your furniture on the moving truck, cover it with sheets. Surround it with moving pads to help protect you items from damage. You don’t want to hurt yourself or the furniture, so always use the proper tools to move your items. Don’t try and move big items yourself, get a few buddies or neighbors to help you out. Or if you’re hiring a moving company, let them do it.

Good afternoon. I wanted to write you a quick comment to express my thanks. I've been reading your blog for a month or so and have picked up a great deal of useful information as well as enjoyed the way you've setup your blog. I am attempting to run my own blog but I think it's far too general. I would like to focus more on narrower topics. Being all things to all people is not all that its cracked up to be. Many thanks.
