Notes on Packing Boxes

Posted by Air1Moving

While preparing to move to a new location, you need to make sure you properly pack all of your items for the journey to the new place. Depending on what kind of items you’ll be moving will determine the size and toughness of the boxes you should get. Packing material is also a must, whether it is in the form of newspaper, bubble wrap, or Styrofoam packing peanuts. You will need packing tape to seal up the boxes. A marker is also good to have, so you can label what is in each of your boxes.

You should try to keep the boxes under fifty pounds, so heavy items like books should go into small and strong boxes. Items in boxes should be packed tightly, so that they don’t get jostled around. Any fragile items should be wrapped in paper and be well padded. Plates should be stacked vertically and glass ware should also be stored upright.

Electronics should be stored in their original boxes and packaging, if you still have them. If not, make sure you use enough padding around them so they will be secure in the box you put them in. You will also want to label all of your cords, so that you will know what each cord goes to when you want to set your devices up again.

It is suggested that you take any valuables, heirlooms, photos, important files, and irreplaceable items with you.  But if you want the movers to transport them, you should make a detailed list of all items stored in each of those boxes. You should let your moving company know of these items in advance, so that you can fill out any special forms they have relating to your precious items.

Do not pack flammable and hazardous chemicals, such as paints, lacquer thinners, and others of the like. Packing these items would be dangerous and can be illegal for a moving company to transport these items with or without their knowledge.

Thank you very much for this nice post; this is the kind of thing that keeps me going through the day. I've been looking around for this blog after I heard about them from a close friend and was thrilled when I was able to find it after looking for some time. Being an avid blogger, I'm pleased to see others taking initiative and contributing to the community. I just wanted to comment to show my appreciation for your work as it's very encouraging, and many writers do not get the credit they deserve. I'm sure I'll be back and will send some of my friends.
