Since you are getting ready to move, this would be the perfect time to go through all of your stuff and see what you don’t need anymore. As you sort through your belongings, start to divide things into piles. You want to make a keep pile, a sell pile, and a donation pile. Anything that you can’t sell at the yard sale should go to the donation pile.
The next step will be planning your yard sale. Are you going to have one big sale? Or should you divide it up into multiple yard sales. This all depends on you and your time frame. One big sale will attract more customers than a small sale would. And to get the best turn out, you might want to consider taking out an ad in the local newspaper. Advertising can’t hurt you.
Try to be flexible during your sale. Everyone is looking for a deal, so be willing to make some. Remember your goal is to sell off as much stuff as possible.
Yard sales are a cash paying event, so be sure you have enough change to complete your sales. You also want to keep your prices simple, to make you and your guest happy. Revolve your prices around whole dollar amounts. Everybody likes simple math.
When the yard sales are done with, arrange to have a goodwill company come and pick up your donations. Or if there is a donation center close enough to you, feel free to take stuff there on your own.
