Moving your car to a new house.

Moving your car to a new house.

Sometimes you have more cars than you do drivers. You might be moving somewhere across your country or across continents. If that is the case, you won’t be able to drive your car to your new place. So you might have to use a car moving company.

Whatever your case may be, here are some tips to help you out:

  • Do lots of research on available car moving companies in or near your area. Find out how far they will travel. Ask about their packing and transport methods.
  • See what kinds of insurance they have and what types of damage to your vehicle it covers.
  • Talk to your insurance company to see what kind of coverage it offers in the event of some unforeseen accident while your car is being transported.
  • Be sure to take all of your stuff out of your car. The moving company will probably not take any responsibility for items lost in transit.
  • Get a lot of price quotes. Then go through them and see what those prices cover. The cheapest offer isn’t always the best offer.
  • Document any defects in your car before the moving company takes possession. This will help you later, if your car suffers any dings and minor damage. Everything will be on paper, so the company can’t claim it was already there.
  • If you are moving locally, look into renting a trailer to drag your car behind. Or get a friend or family member to drive your extra car to your new place.
